Playstation Restoration

I picked up this Playstation from a street vendor in Brooklyn. He didn’t know if it worked or not and when I got it home and plugged it in I found the answer was the latter. After a deep clean and some fiddling I was able to get the system to power on but after some trial and error found out that the optical drive was faulty. Fortunately a very easy and inexpensive part to replace. A few weeks later and this console was running like brand new. Fun fact: Some audiophiles believe this model of the original playstation’s CD playback has better sound quality than some high end stereo systems.
